Abstract: The role of temporal distance and social distance in emotional prediction was studied by taking 55 senior college students
as subjects. The results showed that: ① The emotional predictions at different time distances were significantly different; ② The main
effects of social distance in emotional predictions were influenced by the emotional valences, and the differences in the emotional
prediction strengths when predicting the negative emotions of themselves and classmates were extremely significant; ③ The time
distances when predicting negative emotions interactions with social distance reach a marginal level of significance; ④ By dividing the
time distance into two periods before and after the task, and taking the social distance and emotional valence as independent variable
and emotional prediction influences deviation as the dependent variable, a factor analysis was carried out and it was found that the
main effects of emotional potency were significant, the interaction between social distance and emotional potency was significant, and
the main effects of emotional potency were significant after the task was finished. The conclusions indicate that the emotional responses
to predict future events and the emotional responses to retrospective past events all have influence biases, and both the time distance
and social distance effects are significant.
